Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: April 24, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have white bumps on my sack. They are real small. Sometimes when I get into a hot bath it hurts. This is serious not a joke.

Dear White Bumps On Sack,

Penile and scrotal skin is different then the skin on the rest of your body. It often looks bumpy, lumpy and uneven especially on the shaft. What you need to do is see a doctor and let him/her diagnose the problem for you. It wouldn't be fair to you to try and make a diagnosis over the web. The penis has thin, sensitive skin, which is prone to whatever ailment the skin can get. This includes eczema, irritation from rubbing and yeast infections (yes yeast infections). The scrotum can also develop cysts which look like white bumps.

You didn' mention whether you were sexually active or not. If you are or were sexually active then you can add STDs (like warts, herpes simplex and syphilis) to the list.

The best and safest thing to do is to see a doctor. Your local teen health center or local Planned Parenthood can see you without your parents having to know and for little or no cost.

If you would like to meet with a doctor from the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health in Morristown, New Jersey, you can call 973.971.6475 for an appointment.
