Dear TeenHealthFX,

What drug causes bad breath and severe skin wrinkling?

Signed: Drugs That Equal Bad Breath & Wrinkling

Dear Drugs That Equal Bad Breath & Wrinkling,

This sounds like a trivia question. TeenHealthFX wonders why you are asking? It seems like you are asking about cigarettes, which contain the drug nicotine. Many smokers will have bad breath and may smell of cigarette smoke. Smokers can develop yellow teeth and may show visible signs of aging, like wrinkles, well before the appropriate age. Smoking also can cause multiple types of cancer, heart disease, and ulcers. Smoking can also cause serious and permanent damage to unborn fetuses and those breathing in the smoke second hand.

Another drug that can cause bad breath and wrinkling is marijuana. Smoking pot leaves a noticeable odor. It may also cause premature aging.

TeenHealthFX hopes that this has answered your question. For more information on tobacco and other drugs check out these sites: www.na.org and www.drugfreeamerica.com.

If you are concerned about your own or someone else's health or addiction, speak with your doctor or call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Northern New Jersey at 973.889.6350.
