Dear TeenHealthFX,

I am a girl and I have hair growing on my stomach and it leaves little spots where some of the hair was. I think maybe like really small ingrown hairs. I need to know how to get rid of the hair and the spots!

Dear Stomach Hair And Spots,

Everyone has hair that grows on their stomach, just like the rest of our bodies. Often times around the belly button the hair can appear darker or denser. There are a few options that you have to remove the hair, but it sounds like you may have already tried. You can shave the small area, wax it, or use more expensive methods like depilatories or electrolysis. If you decide to shave the area look to How To's- Shaving & Bumps. It will give you advice on the proper methods to take in order to prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. TeenHealthFX recommends that you do not tweeze these hairs as they are more likely to grow back ingrown.

The spots that you are seeing can be follicles that have become clogged after the hair was removed. This is can be prevented by keeping the area clean and also by using a moisturizer when shaving.
