Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have been having pain inside of my testicals for the past month now. It is almost a once a day thing, and can last for hours; a sore feeling. It isn't unbearable; but it is very uncomfortable. I don't know what it is; and there are no bumps of anything unusual looking or feeling about them. I don't want to go to a doctor; I already had a urethra widening surgery; and my family can't afford to deal with another doctor's appointment. So is there any idea what could be causing this soreness. It is becoming worser as time is progressing, and I don't know what to do besides suck it up.

Dear Pain Inside of My Testicals,

TeenHealthFX can appreciate that you do not want your family to incur more medical cost because of you but this is not an acceptable reason to ignore your health concern. Only a doctor who does an examination along with the proper testing can diagnose your condition and set a course of treatment. You should check with is the urologist who did your surgery to make sure it is not a lingering complication of the surgery. If this is not the case then, your physician can then look for the underlying cause for your testicle pain. The fact that pain is becoming worse over time indicates that there is an issue that needs to be dealt with immediately. If you are worried the financial aspects consider that the earlier you begin medical intervention the less likely you will incur costly emergency medical treatment down the road.

TeenHealthFX admires your fortitude and your consideration of how your condition affects others. However, there is not much room for debate here. You need to see a doctor and take care of the problem now. Please do not wait until the pain becomes unbearable.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Morristown 973-971-6475 or the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Summit at 908-522-5757 for an appointment.
