Dear Concerned Teen - Want To Remove Mole On Neck,
Please do not attempt to remove a mole by yourself! TeenHealthFX would like you to visit a dermatologist so that this mole can be examined. You may wish to see your primary care doctor first so that he/she can give you a referral.
A dermatologist can determine if the mole is abnormal due to shape, size, and color. If it is determined that removing this mole is important for either skin cancer prevention or detection or for aesthetic (physical attractiveness) reasons, then a professional will do the procedure safely. There are several types of procedures that can be done, most often conducted in the medical office and with a local anesthetic so that you feel minimal pain. Following the procedure, the mole will be tested for any abnormal cells, and you may have to treat the area with an ointment that will reduce infection, scarring, and inflammation.
Again, please do not remove this mole yourself. You are right that it is not safe to remove a mole by yourself on any part of your body. Let a professional do it, that is what they are trained for!
