Female Body Concerns / Question

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I want to shave the area around my vagina, not just the bikini line because the pubic hair makes me feel really unclean while I'm on my period. How should I go about doing this?

Dear How To Shave The Full Vagina,

Shaving the pubic region is a very personal choice, and if your pubic hair is making you uncomfortable than you may want to consider shaving. However, if you shave the area and it is uncomfortable or causing you any sort of pain than it should not be continued.

See FX's response to Shaving The Full Vagina, How To's- Shaving and Bumps and Shaving Pubic Hair for tips on how to go about shaving the pubic area as well as the underarms and legs. These answers provide some step-by-step instructions on shaving in hopes to avoid irritation and to make the process more comfortable. TeenHealthFX always suggests that you also talk to other adult female relatives (mom or aunt) who you trust about whether they shave this region and what they have found to be successful.
