Breasts: They Come In All Shapes & Sizes / Question
Published: September 18, 2001

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have lost a lot of weight and therefore my breasts have now become droopy and small, with lots of stretch marks on it. Is there anything I could do to plump them up or get them back the way they used to be? I used to be a 34B and now I am a small 34A. Thanks.

Dear Breasts Droop From Weight Loss,

The changes that you have noticed in your breasts are not uncommon in people who have lost weight. Even though your breast size has decreased it probably is proportional to other parts of your body. In other words, you got smaller all over.

The stretch marks you see are a common occurrence when you lose a lot of weight. There is no magical solution to getting rid of stretch marks but there appearance can be dramatically improved. To protect yourself from some of the scams out there, you would be better off checking with a doctor and having him/her recommend a product.

As for trying to plump up your breasts, TeenHealthFX recommends a good fitting bra. For information on how to get a bra that fits well, see our answer to Bra Size And Info.  A bra that fits well can improve the way your breast look.

TeenHealthFX encourages you to appreciate your looks. Try to understand feeling good starts on the inside and works its way out.
