Chest Pains

Published: October 17, 2001
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I'm a female and 15. Ever since I was little I've been getting pains in my chest. Back then I just thought it was "growing pains" but the pains are sharper. Also sometimes this may sound weird but for the past few months when I laugh a certain way, I feel some kind of ball in my left breast popping out. Do you know what is wrong with me?

Dear Chest Pains,

TeenHealthFX understands that this must cause you a lot of worry since you have been dealing with it for some time. You need to make an appointment with your doctor and get checked out ASAP.

We wish we could give you an exact answer to put your mind at ease, but it is just not possible to do over the web. You need to be examined by a doctor soon and possibly have some diagnostic tests. It is only then, that a doctor would be able to tell you why you have been experiencing this pain.

It would be a good idea to talk to your parents about what you have been experiencing. They will be able to help make the necessary appointments, get you to them, and provide emotional support.

If you would like to make an appointment at the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health in Morristown, New Jersey, please call 973.889.6350 for an appointment.

Signed: TeenHealthFX
