Dear TeenHealthFX,
I have two fathers. My biological father has a girlfriend and I hate her and her daughter. What should I do? Also, his girlfriend has a nephew that I like, and he likes me. What should I do because they aren't married yet and probably won't. Please answer - I am desperate! Thanks.

Dear Hate Dad's Girlfriend,
TeenHealthFX understands how difficult it can be when divorced parents start dating other people and eventually remarry. Although your dad's girlfriend may not be your personal favorite, she is obviously his, since he has chosen to spend his time with her. Therefore, we suggest you try and respect his choice, even if you do not agree with it.
Since you do not get along with dad's girlfriend or her daughter, try suggesting that you and dad spend some time alone, whether the day or just a few hours. This may help relieve some of the tension and allow you to better enjoy the time you are spending with your dad. But TeenHealthFX also recommends trying to get along with dad's girlfriend and her daughter, as well. Try and find a common interest that may spark conversation. And remember that this new situation is probably just as awkward for the other daughter as it is for you - maybe that is your common ground! We suggest giving the situation some time; it may get better as you all begin to get comfortable with one another and the new dating arrangement. Being respectful of other people can sometimes be really difficult when you do not like them, but if everyone involved acts respectfully towards one another, then there is a better chance of learning to like each other.
With regard to the girlfriend's nephew, TeenHealthFX does not see a problem with spending time together. However, we do suggest mentioning your new relationship to your dad and his girlfriend. Even if your dad and his girlfriend were to get married, there would be no genetic relation that would prevent you from dating one another.
