Dear TeenHealthFX,

I don't have wet dreams any longer. At what age do they stop occurring or do they continue?

Signed: Wet Dreamless

Dear Wet Dreamless,

Your wet dreams or ejaculating during your sleep may have stopped or subsided for a while. This is completely and 100% normal. There is no set age when wet dreams begin, but do tend to occur most often in your early teen years. Wet dreams usually slow down or stop when a male becomes more sexually active either with another partner or through masturbation.

Although your ejaculating during your sleep may have stopped, your body is still probably unconsciously dreaming about sex or sexual excitement. Research shows that this happens both in men and women for life. The body goes through sexual arousal periods during the sleeping phase of Rapid Eye Movement. Many people will say that they do not dream about sex or something that excites them sexually either because they do not remember or do not care to admit it. For more information on wet dreams, see Morning Erection and Wet Dreams.

As always, if you have any questions or feel that something is not right, see your doctor.
