Little Hard Balls Under The Skin

Published: October 16, 2001
Dear TeenHealthFX,

Since I began having sex with my girlfriend, I have developed bumps around my pubic hair area. The bumps feel like little hard balls under the surface of the skin. I have found a hard ball on my testicles, which is the cause of aching testicles. They're really tender and uncomfortable. I also have redness on the shaft of my penis and have recently become dry and chapped. Please tells me the cause of this, what it is, and what I should do?

Dear Little Hard Balls Under The Skin,

TeenHealthFX cannot make a diagnosis and recommend treatment over the web. There are many different kinds and causes of bumps on the penis. This said, TeenHealthFX thinks that there probably is a medical issue here that needs to be treated by a doctor.

TeenHealthFX recognizes that this problem is probably a major concern for you and can see why. It is very important that you allow a doctor to examine you and get a correct diagnosis. Since you have a lump in your testicles, you need to have a doctor diagnose what is going on. Anytime you have pain or an aching feeling anywhere on your body that does not go away, you need to see a doctor. Also, once you are aware of what's happening and how to treat it, you'll feel much better about the situation.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-6475 for an appointment. Outside this area contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood.

Get to a doctor soon!

Signed: TeenHealthFX
