I am a 20 Year Old Male from England and I am writing because I have had impotence and that followed by Pain in my left testicle that went on for weeks. I have really weak erections sometimes which I think are because of OM, I have been checked by my GP but he can’t find anything wrong but I can feel I’m not as strong as I used to be. So will the strength of my erections return if I stop masturbating for a few weeks?
Having been checked out by your General Practitioner and finding nothing wrong during a physical exam should at least relieve some anxiety which can be one of the underlying emotional issues with impotence.
Some other emotional causes of erectile dysfunction:
· Depression.
· Performance anxiety (worrying how you will perform during sex).
· Stress.
· Relationship problems
Since you suspect that over masturbation (OM) may be contributing to your problem try abstaining for awhile or cutting down the number of times you masturbate on a daily or weekly basis. If in a month’s time you do not notice a difference in your ability to maintain an erection, you may want to see a therapist about the problem. It may seem like an embarrassing proposition but there are many therapists who deal with this issue on a regular basis and would be able to help you. To be on the safe side you could also ask your General Practitioner to refer you to an urologist (A physician who specializes in diseases of the urinary organs in females and the urinary tract and sex organs in males) for a further examination or tests.
Many men shy away from treatment because they are self-conscious. Take our word that impotence is a common problem among men and is treatable.
