Hooked Up With Random Guy

Published: August 18, 2010
Dear TeenHealthFX,

Okay so i'm 15 years old and i just lost my virginity on the 15th. I hooked up with some random guy that i don't even know and we didn't use protection, but he did say that he used the pull out method. We had sex a couple of times and to me it was painful. When we went to sleep he put his penis inside of me and we slept that way for a while, is it possible that he could have ejaculated in me while i was asleep? And also the following morning i think i got my period, which was just a few hours after i had just lost my virginity. I was just wondering, is it possible that i may be pregnant too?

Dear Hooked Up With Random Guy,

It would take approximately 2-3 weeks after this sexual experience for a pregnancy test to determine whether or not you are pregnant. The withdrawal method of birth control (also called pulling out) is NOT recommended for teenagers or adults as a method of birth control. Males tend to ejaculate a little semen in the beginning of a sex act (known as pre-cum). This semen contains sperm and can get a female pregnant or transmit a sexually transmitted disease (STD.)

Having sex with a random person without any protection is considered high risk behavior for pregnancy and STD’s. You do not know anything about this person let alone their sexual history. TeenHealthFX strongly recommends that you make an appointment with your doctor or a health clinic to have a complete check up. While you’re there you also need to talk with a health professional about being sexually active, what means of birth control you will use, and get information on practicing safer sex.

Being sexually active is a big decision and it is much more likely to be a more positive experience when you give it a great deal of thought and decide you are ready. You are a special person and deserve more than a random hookup with a person you don’t know or have feelings for.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Morristown 973-971-6475 or the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health in Summit at 908-522-5757 for an appointment. Outside this area contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood.
