Soda like any food, when consumed in moderation, is not harmful. Soda has no real health benefits though either. The thing that you should be aware of is the amount of caffeine that is contained in the soda that you drink. It can affect your sleeping habits and other bodily functions. Soda also contains high amounts of sugar which amounts to high numbers of calories and also can cause tooth decay if you do not properly brush after drinking soda. And how many people carry a toothbrush to use when you finish a soda in the school cafeteria?
Soda is not the only beverage that is high in sugar. Most sports drinks and juices contain sugars, artificial flavoring and preservatives. Your body requires a certain amount of fluid everyday. If you enjoy drinking soda, continue doing so (in moderation 1-2 cans per day). Just remember to also consume a significant amount of water as well. Water is the best source of fluid for the body. It naturally hydrates and cleanses the body of impurities.
