Dear TeenHealthFX,

I am on a drug called Humatrope because I am Growth Hormone deficient. I take shots everyday. But I was wondering, would alcohol and marijuana the process?

Dear Humatrope & Drug Use,

Alcohol and marijuana are both drugs that alter the body no matter what state you are in. Humatrope is a drug used to increase the amount of growth hormone circulating in the body. The liver is one of the organs in the body that produce some of these growth hormones. As you may know, the liver is also part of the detoxification system that flushes alcohol and drugs from your system and can be damaged by their usage. So, it is not suggested that you mix the use of this drug with either marijuana or alcohol.

TeenHealthFX does not promote the use of either of these substances, especially when using other drugs. There can always be adverse effects when mixing drugs. Not to mention that the use of alcohol or marijuana with Humatrope could decrease any positive effects Humatrope is having on the your body such as anti-aging, decreased blood pressure, stronger bones and increasing human growth hormone levels. Marijuana also has an effect on the sex hormones, which is something you definitely do not want to chance while taking Humatrope.

Please make sure that if you have been using alcohol, marijuana or other drugs along with Humatrope you talk to your doctor about any other adverse side effects.
