Dear Thoughts of Revenge Against My School,

TeenHealthFX is very sorry to hear how hard things have been for you with whatever has been going on between you and some of your classmates at school. Conflicts with peers can be one of the hardest things for children and teens to deal with, and after a while can definitely get to the best of us. However, FX is extremely concerned about the thoughts you’ve been having about wanting to kill kids at your school. Please realize that seriously harming other people will not make your life any less horrible. If you were to intentionally harm another person it would only add a tremendous amount of misery to an already difficult situation

Nothing good can possibly come out of adding tragedy to tragedy. FX would like you to consider how many completely innocent people would suffer as a result of such actions. Whenever terrible situations like this occur, there are always countless people who end up suffering and paying the price for something they were never even involved with – whether it’s other students, or students’ siblings, neighbors, parents, friends or extended family members.

And even the kids who may be acting in a very terrible way – it doesn’t mean that they deserve to die over it. What it means is that if there are serious problems going on, someone certainly needs to intervene. But that should be a job for the school staff members or the police (depending on the nature of the problems that are happening).

There is definitely MUCH HOPE that things can get better for you. But hurting others in any way is not the way to get there. FX strongly urges you to talk to a trusted adult about how you are feeling immediately – whether it’s a parent, teacher, school counselor, your doctor or a neighbor. Let them know about what has been happening between you and some of your peers. Make it clear to them the extent to which this has been troubling you and the thoughts you have been having about wanting to harm kids at your school. A school administrator should also be informed of how you are feeling so that necessary steps can be made to ensure that these peer problems are properly addressed.

FX recommends speaking to a mental health professional in order to get support and guidance in dealing with what you have been experiencing. If you live in northern New Jersey and need help finding a therapist you can call the Access Center from Atlantic Behavioral Health at 888-247-1400. Outside of this area you can log onto the US Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration website for referrals in your area.
