Dear TeenHealthFX,

I cannot cry, I am going throuigh a crisis. I brough a gun to school, and went to Greenwood Juvinile jail for 5 days. Now 2 months later. I think my band director is taking advantage of me, I think he stole my instrument, and replaced it with a "broke down one". I cannot go on shool campus and "get business done". My mom is to stupid to realize whats going on. She always thinks its my fault. Within 2 years, 4 people have died close to me. I never show any emotion, even when I went to jail. My mom just calls me "sorry" for this shit. I can`t cry at all.

Dear I Am Going Through A Crisis,

TeenHealthFX is very concerned about you and thinks that it is very important for you to get connected with a mental health professional as soon as possible. Clearly there are some serious emotional health issues going on for you right now, and it does not sound like you have the support and professional help that you need. FX suggests that you speak with your mother, a school counselor, a teacher, your family doctor, or any other trusted adult and then stress the importance of your having a mental health consultation as soon as possible. It sounds like there is a great deal of sadness, frustration and confusion about a few different things in your life – these things can get better for you, but it will be much easier for you to get to a more positive place in your life with the support and guidance of caring, trustworthy adults. So please reach out for help as soon as possible.

If you live in northern New Jersey and need help finding a therapist you can call the Access Center from Atlantic Behavioral Health at 973-247-1400. Outside of this area you can log onto the US Department of Health and Human Services Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration website for referrals in your area. You can also contact your insurance company to get a list of in-network mental health providers or check with your school social worker or psychologist to get a list of referrals in your area.

If you get to the point that you are seriously considering suicide or are afraid of your impulses then you need to seek help immediately. You can call 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room. In northern New Jersey you can also call the crisis hotline from Morristown Memorial hospital at 973-540-0100. Outside this area call the Suicide & Crisis Hotline, 1-800-999-9999, 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Since you mentioned that you have had four people close to you die, FX also thinks that it is very important for you to have some resources to help you deal with your grief. You can check out Rainbows, a non-profit, international organization that works to help children and teens who have had to deal with some kind of loss in their lives. You can also look up the Grief Speaks website, which offers teen resources and helpful books for teens who are dealing with grief issues.
