Dear Violence and Sex,
TeenHealthFX believes that violence and sex and two very different things that do not go together. Sex in an intimate act that is shared by two people who care about one another have mutual respect for each other.
Violence is about harming another person or trying to control them by the use of fear. People who combine violence with sex do so because extreme anger or the need to feel powerful. In acts of sexual violence, such as rape, you will find that the act itself is one of rage and really has little to do with sex.
If you are in a relationship that is abusive or one where you are being physically harmed, you should get out of it immediately. Talk to a parent, friend, teacher or some trusted adult and ask them for help.
