Dear 17 Y/O Senior With Severe Mood Swings,

Senior year in high school can be a very stressful time for most students. Many adolescents are worried about getting into college, finding a job or deciding what they want to do with their future. This type of uncertainty can cause your emotions to go through an upheaval and leave you feeling down. This is not to mention any other problems you may be experiencing.

The best way to deal with these feelings is to talk them out and not keep them bottled up. Find someone you can trust, such as a parent, friend, teacher, school nurse or any adult and share with them your fears and worries. If you feel your problems need greater attention, tell your parents that you would like to talk with a mental health professional.

A therapist can assess your situation and work with you to relieve your discomfort.

If you live in northern New Jersey and would like help finding a therapist you can call the Access Center from Atlantic Behavioral Health at 888-247-1400 for an appointment.
