Childhood Sexual Abuse / Question
Published: August 12, 2003
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I'm a 14-year-old boy. My sister is 12. She's extremely hot and turns me on. On vacation a few weeks ago, we had to share a bed. Anyway, I ended up sticking my finger in her vagina. She seemed to love it. I then mounted her and we had sex. Now, we try to ignore each other during the day but at night we have to have sex. We love each other but, I fear what we're doing is wrong. She has just started having her period and it makes me want to make love to her even more. Please help me!

Dear Sex With Sister,
Listen to your fears because what you are doing is totally wrong. "She's so hot" and "She seemed to love it" are rationalizations that you tell your self to make what you are doing seem okay. The fact is that your sister is probably scared, confused and does not understand what is happening to her. You are not making love to your sister; you are sexually assaulting her, which is a crime. You owe it to your sister to tell your parents what has been happening. Let them know that you have a serious problem and that you need professional help. They will be mad at first but eventually through the therapeutic process they will understand this behavior better and so will you. It is extremely important that you acknowledge to your self that you have a problem with your sexual urges and boundaries and need to take responsibility for your actions.
When seeking professional help you need to find a therapist who is especially trained in dealing with sex offenders. You can find information about treatment providers in your state by going to the Association for the Treatment of Sex Abusers (ATSA) website or calling their national office at (503) 643-1023.
