Dear TeenHealthFX,

I would like some advice-Is it really worth it to work extremely hard in school in order to get into a good college or do you think I'd rather put more into my social life?

Signed: work hard for college or social life

Dear work hard for college or social life,

TeenHealthFX recommends making the most of your education, however far you choose to go. By studying hard and getting good grades in high school, you are definitely increasing your chances of being accepted into college. But remember that colleges prefer the "well-rounded" student - one who is not only a good student, but also involved in things like sports teams, clubs, or community projects - conveniently, all activities that promote social interaction. So you see, studying hard and having a social life in high school does not have to be mutually exclusive.

TeenHealthFX suggests deciding what is right for you. If college is a goal, then use your high school to help you attain it. But do not forget that having friends is an important part of high school, too. You need friends for support, guidance and just plain fun! We all need to kick back and relax from time to time, regardless of our goals. So relax AND study hard - the most successful people can do both!
