Stomach Issues & Nausea / Question
Published: October 29, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have been throwing up lately and I'm not sure if it is because I don't eat good, but now I have a soar throat and it kinda hurts when I swallow. Is something wrong? And no, I'm not pregnant.

Dear Throwing Up And Throat Hurts,

Throwing up all of the time must be terrible for you, and is something that needs to be addressed by a medical professional. The stomach acid that is in your throat from constant vomiting could certainly be the cause of the soreness you are feeling when you swallow. You need to talk to a parent or trusted adult about what is going on and make an appointment to see a doctor. They can diagnose you and hopefully treat your symptoms so that you can start to feel better.

If you do not already have a doctor that you feel comfortable with and you live in Northern New Jersey, please contact the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health at (973) 971-6475. In other areas, contact your local teen health center. In the meantime, for more information on chronic stomach issues, have a look at our answer to "Nauseous Daily."
