Hairy Situations: Too Much, Too Little & Shaving / Question
Published: January 9, 2003

Dear TeenHealthFX,

My hair used to be smooth and silky but a few months ago, I began losing hair due to stress and now my hair is thinning and limp. I'm distressed over the matter. Can you help me?

Dear Distressed Over Thinning Hair,

TeenHealthFX can understand why you are distressed. Losing your hair can be very upsetting.

Since TeenHealthFX does not know your age or the extent of your hair loss, we do not feel comfortable commenting on the situation right now. What you need to do is talk to your doctor about what is going on. He or she will be able to tell you if there is a reason to be concerned and how to address the problem.

If you do not already have a doctor that you feel comfortable with and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health at 973.971.6475 for an appointment.

Signed: TeenHealthFX
