Feces, Poop & Butt Issues / Question
Published: July 24, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

At the beginning of my butt crack (near my back) there seems to be a very deep cut that keeps on bleeding and producing puss. I don't know how it got there!! I have had this for a week now. Is there something I should be worried about?

Dear Cut Near Butt Crack,

TeenHealthFX cannot diagnose you over the Internet. This sounds like something you need to go to your doctor for. A doctor will be able to diagnose the problem for you and recommend treatment. the problem.

Bleeding by your anus can be a sign of an infection, hemorrhoids or fissure (see Bleeding From The Crack Of My Butt). All are treatable and your doctor can give you medication.

If you do not have your own doctor and live in Northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health at (973) 971.6475. If you do not live in this area you can call your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood office.
