Dear TeenHealthFX,

What should people use for chapped lips throughout the year? Should anything different be used in the summer?

Signed: Chapped Lips

Dear Chapped Lips,

Chapped lips, often caused by excessive drying due to licking the lips can be annoying and painful.

FX recommends you use some type of lip balm year round. Try to buy a lip balm that offers ultraviolet protection (UV) against the sun even in the winter. If the chapped lips get painful and cracked, and do not seem to go away with this treatment, see your doctor to discuss this.
