Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: February 1, 2000

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I feel some discomfort and tenderness in my testicles. I also feel some discomfort in my pelvis and lower back. I'm constantly putting ice packs on my testicles because they feel hot and feverish. What should I do and how long will this last?

Signed: Tender Testicles

Dear Tender Testicles,

TeenHealthFX recommends that you see a doctor as soon as possible to get a firm medical diagnosis of what's going on. The tenderness combined with the hotness is a sign that something is not right. Some tenderness in this area can be normal (like after being hit or bumped in the area), but you are describing some chronic discomfort that sounds like it definitely needs treatment. We cannot diagnose over the Internet, but there are several conditions that males can have in their testicles and most of them are very treatable! So please, stop dealing with this discomfort and go get help.

Make a doctor's appointment and let them know that you need to be seen quickly. In the meantime, try not to self-treat and stop using the ice packs as this could be doing more harm to your already aching testicles.
