Dear Oral Sex & Pregnancy,
You cannot get pregnant through straight oral sex if the genitals don't come in contact with each other and there is no exchange of semen, but it is a still risky for STDs. Having oral sex does not protect against Herpes, possibly HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The membranes in the mouth are thin and easily penetrated. There is also the chance that you or your partner can have open sores or cuts in the mouth region. It is important to get into the habit of using some form of protection and practicing safer oral sex and safer sex (SH9).Condoms work well when performing oral sex on a man. Condoms also work well if cut on the seam to cover a females vaginal area too. TeenHealthFX suggests that whenever you begin sexually activity that you start by putting on a condom
If you are thinking about becoming sexually active or already are, TeenHealthFX recommends getting checked out by a doctor or at a teen health center. A teen health clinic can see you without your parent's permission, confidentially and on a low/no cost basis. They often provide free condoms, and can help to educate you in making the best possible decisions regarding sex, birth control and STD protection. If you live in Northern New Jersey you can contact the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at (973) 889.6350. If you live outside of Northern New Jersey, please call your local Planned Parenthood.
