Sex Definitions / Question

Dear TeenHealthFX,
I was just reading your "FX" Answers column and I came upon a commonly used term "pre-cum" and I just wanted to ask you what that was?
Signed: Pre-Cum's
Dear Pre-Cum's,
Most males discharge a small amount of fluid before ejaculation. This fluid is called pre-cum or pre-ejaculatory fluids. This pre-cum is usually not felt by the male. It does contain sperm and semen, which can lead to pregnancy and STD infection.
FX discusses this so much because some of our users have asked about the "pulling out" method of birth control. One of the biggest problems with this method is the "pre-cum" and the male's inability to know if he is doing it (like FX said, many males cannot feel it, but definitely have pre-cum). This is why it is so important to practice safer sex by using a condom and a second method of birth control.
