Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: September 26, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

A few years ago I developed a rash on the underside of my penis. This rash extends from my mid penis down to the scrotum. It is very painful especially when I were to "adjust" if it were left completely alone it would feel fine but as soon as any movement would occur it would because incredibly painful. well I am sure by now u are wondering why I am asking you about this ailment that plagued me a few years ago-well it came back-also I do not know if it means anything but at the time I had it was the summer months and this time it is basically the same time period. The pain is a very bad burning sensation-when I say very bad I mean tears to my eyes. Painful.

Dear Painful Rash On Penis,

TeenHealthFX cannot make a diagnosis over the Internet and due to the nature of your problem strongly suggests you see a doctor ASAP. Many things including heat, moisture and certain medical conditions can cause rashes. Trying new cleansers or creams can also irritate your skin. It is very important that you see your doctor especially since this rash has recurred. He/she will be able to treat your rash and hopefully prevent any further incidents.

Again make an appointment with your doctor soon. When you call for an appointment, let them know that you need to be seen in the next few days because you have a medical problem which needs to be tended to by a doctor. If you live in northern New Jersey and would like help finding a doctor you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973.971.6475.
