Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: October 24, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have these little bumps on my penis shaft and I think also on my testicles. They kind of look like miniature zits. But I also noticed discoloration where the bumps end. Where the bumps are, the skin is much darker than the normal penis skin. What is this?

Dear Little Bumps On Penis And Testicles,

Penile and scrotal skin is not like other skin on your body. It often looks similar to what you are describing -- bumpy, lumpy and uneven in color, especially on the shaft.

TeenHealthFX thinks that an evaluation by a doctor is a good idea nonetheless. Because there are many different kinds and causes of bumps, it is difficult for us to accurately answer your question here. A doctor, though, can assess your bumps, make a more exact medical diagnosis and help you to decide how to best treat them.

If you live in the Northern New Jersey area, you can contact the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973.971.6475 for an evaluation. If not, a local teen health center can see you confidentially without your parents consent and on a low/no cost basis.
