What does the term "spooning" mean?

Dear Define Spooning,
Spooning very simply is the act of two people lying on their sides in the same direction forming the shape of two spoons. (much like stacked spoons on their side in the silverware drawer) This can be done with or without clothes on and is a form of cuddling or being close to someone. Sometimes there is sexual penetration involved and sometimes not.
As always, if you are doing this activity with penetration, please remember to always use a condom and practice safer sex.
