Male Puberty Issues / Question
Published: May 2, 2002

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I am 15, and my voice stopped cracking 2 years ago. But now, not nearly as often, it has started. What does this mean?

Signed: Voice Cracking Again

Dear Voice Cracking Again,

It means that you are still going through puberty and your body is continuing to change. Eventually as you complete the growth process your voice will deepen and stay that way. As long as you are not experiencing any throat pain or difficulty swallowing then there is nothing to worry about. If you are experiencing any discomfort, a doctor should see you.

If you would like to meet with a doctor from the Adolescent/Young Adult Center For Health in Morristown, New Jersey, you can call 973.971.6475 for an appointment.
