Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: January 28, 2003

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I have some little spots on my penis... had them since I was about 12-13 and now I'm 20... Still have them... it don't hurt, no pain when I pee etc. haven't had sex... still a virgin... what do you think it could be? One Doctor I was chatting to on line said "if you had them for more than 7 years and still there, no worries" Please help! Thanks!

Dear Little Spots On My Penis,

As much as TeenHealthFX would like to help you and tell you exactly what you have, it is virtually impossible to make the diagnosis over the internet. Yes, it is true that since these "bumps" have been there for a long time without any change, and since you have no symptoms such as pain with urination, it is more likely than not that these bumps are harmless. However, the right thing to do is to see your doctor... IN PERSON! Maybe he or she will be able to tell you exactly what's going on, or maybe they'll decide to refer you to a specialist, like a urologist. In either case, the only way to get your peace of mind is to get it checked out. So, push away your fears and call that receptionist!

If you don't have your own doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973.971.6475. Outside of this area, you can call your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood.
