Penis & Testicle Concerns / Question
Published: January 28, 2003
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I live in the UK, which is just a little far away, but anyhow I would just like to ask a question. My penis curves to the left. It starts to curve about halfway up the shaft (about 3") and curves at the angle of about 20 degrees. I was wondering what the possible causes are and whether this would interfere with my sex life?

Dear UK Dude With Bent Penis,
Many men experience a Bent Penis. It is common and does not normally affect their sex lives. Some type of trauma or injury done to the penis normally causes the condition. This leaves behind scar tissue. The scar tissue then interferes with the penis' ability to have a straight erection. Sometimes treating the area around the curve with Vit. E (it can also be taken orally) will help, and other times the curving will naturally disappear. However, you should still talk to your doctor about this problem. In a few cases, the bent penis has been known to interfere with proper sexual actions, in which case the individual may decide to have surgery done to remove the scarring and help alleviate the bending.
Each male is different. So it is important to talk to your doctor about it. You probably have nothing to be concerned about, but it is always best to be cautious.
