Dear Does Someone Have To Have An STD To Pass It On Or Can It Be,

It is impossible for someone who does not have HIV or AIDS to pass HIV onto another person. HIV cannot be randomly “created” in a person – a person can only become HIV positive through certain types of contact with another person who has HIV or AIDS. HIV can be transmitted in the following ways:

If you have any further questions about HIV, AIDS, TeenHealthFX suggests that you read more about the topic through the following questions and answers that are posted on the TeenHealthFX.com website under the Sexuality and Sexual Health Sexually Transmitted Diseases section: “HIV/AIDS,” “HIV/AIDS and Kissing,” “Wondering About STDs and HIV,” “HIV Test And Standard Blood Count,” and “I Think I Have AIDS.”

You can also speak with your doctor, school nurse, or health teacher at school if you have any further questions or concerned about HIV/AIDS. If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-6475 for an appointment or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
