Dear TeenHealthFX,

Is it possible to be allergic to semen?

Signed: Allergic To Semen

Dear Allergic To Semen,

Allergies to semen have been reported, but are pretty rare. Any reaction that may occur following semen contacting another person's body (such as a rash, irritation, burning, etc) may be a possible sign of an allergy. If this is occurring, a trip to a healthcare provider (specifically an allergist) can assist with an actual diagnosis. Avoidance is the best prevention for any adverse reactions, so using latex gloves and condoms may decrease exposure and reactions to semen.
