Dear TeenHealthFX,

I'm 15 when I tried to have sex with my girlfriend I could not get hard enough to stick my thing inside of her. Tell me what is wrong - this is my first time too

Dear 15 - First Time - Couldn't Get Hard Enough,

There are many reasons why you might be having trouble getting an erection, many of which have to do with being nervous about your first time.  You might try reading the answer to Lose My Erection with My New Sex Partner for more information.

We suggest you don't rush into having sex.  If you take your time getting comfortable with your girlfriend, eventually, it will happen naturally. If you continue to trouble achieving erection and are concerned that something is wrong, you may want to speak with your doctor.

If you do not have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973.971.6475.  If you live elsewhere, get in touch with your local adolescent health center or clinic or Planned Parenthood.

If you are going to be sexually active, you need to be aware of safer sex practices.  This not only includes protecting against pregnancy, but sexually transmitted diseases as well.
