Body Weight - What's Normal? / Question
Published: August 15, 2001

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I know that I used to be over weight, but I have grown taller and lost weight. I was just wondering what a "normal" weight may be for a 5' 6" 14 year old female.

Dear Normal Weight For 14 Year Old,

TeenHealthFX always encourages our readers not to become to focused on weight during the teen years because your body is constantly changing.

A good way to determine if you are at a healthy (better word than normal) weight is to see the question Appropriated Height & Weight.  From there you can calculate your Body-Mass Index (BMI), which will give you a good idea of where you are.

The most important thing to remember is that you can maintain a healthy weight by eating healthy and regular exercise.
