Eating Healthy / Question
Published: January 17, 2001

Dear TeenHealthFX,

I try to eat healthy all day long and I was just wondering about how many carbohydrates are girls (I am 16) supposed to have in their diet?

Dear Carb Counter,

TeenHealthFX congratulates you on trying to eat healthy.  It can be really difficult to eat balanced healthy meals at any age, especially if you are a busy 16 year-old.

Carbohydrates are an important part of our diet.  Carbohydrates include fruits, vegetables breads and pastas.  Look at the answer Eating Healthy for the proper amount you should be eating on a daily basis.  Also, the food pyramid is also a great guide for how much we need daily of other essential nutrients - meats & poultry, milk & cheeses and fats & oils.

Our bodies need all these essential nutrients to be strong and healthy.
