I Just Feel So Lost. Can You Help Me?

Published: January 25, 2021
Dear TeenHealthFX,
I realize this past year has most likely been awful for a lot of people. Im really hoping you can help me or at least please just read this. I am female i have depression. Its been going on for a long time. I thought i was managing pretty okay. This time around i am very worried. Ive written notes and told people im going to kill myself. They just said stop it. Like i was being bad or something. Ive lost interest before but its really bad now. I dont want to eat, i dont want to have sex, i dont even want to smoke weed. I just dont care anymore. I lost almost 90lbs and i dont recognize myself. I feel like when i talk no one listens so i just stopped talking. I hate that i have to go on the internet to get help. If i wanted attention id be on facebook but i dont even have facebook. I hate those things. I think well maybe if i had friends lol but thats the thing. I hate people. I just feel so lost. Please help. Please please help me please i need to know it wasnt all for nothing.

Dear I Just Feel So Lost. Can You Help Me?,

TeenHealthFX is sorry to hear about you are going through.

The pandemic has had an impact on everyone on some level. Some people may have been severely impacted emotionally while others just a little. The key here is that you are not alone and there is no right or wrong answer.  The best thing to do is to ask the right people for help which is why we are glad you asked your question.

Unfortunately, TeenHealth cannot diagnose over the internet, but we have a few suggestions and resources that can! We strongly recommend that you reach out to a parent or trusted adult, teacher, school counselor, or school nurse as soon as possible. They can provide you with the necessary support and help you get the professional help that you need. You will also be given realistic options rather than being told to “stop it” by friends who may not understand that you are really struggling.

If you feel you need immediate assistance, call 911 or if you live in Northern New Jersey you can call the Atlantic Behavioral Health ACCESS Center at 1-888-247-1400. Nationally, you can text the Crisis Text Line by Texting HOME to 741741 to connect with a Crisis Counselor. We also have a Mental Health resource page with additional hotlines and websites that may be helpful.
