Bruised My Backside Jumping Off a Cliff Into a Lake

Published: May 29, 2018
Dear TeenHealthFX,

So I went swimming to a lake 2 days ago and I jumped from a cliff about 20 feet high and slammed hard and my whole backside is bruised dark all the way down to the back of my knees. I hurt all over especially my abdomen. When I had came up I was throwing up the lake water and could barely breathe. Since then I'€™ve had diarrhea and my stomach has been hurting especially after I eat. I am even starting to get sick my throat has been hurting and I woke up with a stuffy and runny nose.

Dear Bruised My Backside Jumping Off a Cliff Into a Lake,

TeenHealthFX recommends that you check in with your doctor as soon as possible to find out what is causing the diarrhea, stomach pain and congestion given the impact on your body of jumping off the cliff. FX cannot know the extent of trauma to your body from the fall, so it is important for you to check in with a doctor about it.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
