I think i might develop an eating disorder. Since i am stuck at home i eat so much one day then starve myself. What do i do?

Dear I Might Develop An Eating Disorder Since I Am Stuck Home. Help!,

TeenHealthFX understands how challenging life has been since the COVID-19 pandemic began. What we are all experiencing is making most of us feel stressed in some way. In stressful situations, people handle things differently. Sometimes people change their eating behaviors and might become emotional or mindless eaters.  Eating when they are bored and not when they are hungry. Some might overeat one day and restrict calories the next.

Try to take each day as it comes and don't be so hard on yourself.  If you don’t like the way you ate one day start fresh the next day. Acknowledge the emotions you may be feeling and make deliberate healthy choices about what you eat and when.

TeenHealthFX would like to suggest these few tips.  Drink a glass of water when you are hungry. If you still want to eat, then you are hungry.  Eat healthier food options. Make sure you are including fruits and vegetables in your diet and not just junk food. They will help make you feel fuller for a longer period. Take a walk outside or go for a run and enjoy the sunlight. It is perfectly safe to go outside and exercise but remember to practice social distancing.
