Dear I Missed One Day of My Birth Control and Took Plan B. Is It Normal My Period Is Late?,

When it comes to the birth control pill, it is extremely important to remember to take it at the same time every day. WebMD explains that missing one or two pills and doubling up (taking the missed pill and current day pill) as soon as you remember are not a real cause for concern. However, missing more than 2 pills and not doubling up would make it necessary to call a doctor for further instructions.

Since you mention taking Plan B as a backup method, it is possible for your period to be off schedule. The Mayo Clinic explains that Plan B (emergency contraceptive) can delay your period for up to one week if taken within the 72 hours of sexual intercourse with no or a failed birth control method. If you go longer than one week without a period, we strongly recommend you take an at home pregnancy test and reach out to a doctor.

If you need help finding a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the  Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health  at 973-971-5199  for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist.
