Dear Cannot Achieve Orgasm During Masturbation,

Delayed ejaculation is common and may be influenced by several factors, including yet not limited to:

  • Having existing medical problems
  • Taking medications
  • How often you are masturbating

Further, this issue may also result from either medical or psychological issues.

  • Diabetes
  • Nerve damage
  • Vascular disease
  • Hormonal factors
  • Alcohol or other drug use

  • Mood disorders
  • Stress, anxiety, guilt, anger, etc.
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Past traumatic events

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. A Planned Parenthood health center is a good option if you have concerns about cost or confidentiality issues. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers, as well as the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) for referrals in your area.
