Can You Get HIV From Someone Else's Contact Lens Case?
TeenHealthFX is glad you are taking extra precautions when it comes to your health. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) cannot be spread from a contact lens case. WedMD explains that HIV can only be spread through specific body fluids: blood, semen, pre-seminal fluid (secreted from penis before ejaculation), vaginal and rectal fluid, and breast milk. HIV cannot be spread from tears, sweat, or saliva.
We recommend making sure that the contact lens case is cleaned, and the proper contact solution is used on the contact lenses to kill bacteria and viruses to prevent infection from other germs. We hope this helps!
