Normal vaginal discharge vs serious...please explain!
This is a great question for other teens beginning their puberty journey! Discharge is normal but an excess amount, changes in color, consistency, or odor is a sign that you should see a doctor. Unfortunately, TeenHealth FX cannot diagnose or treat over the internet. If you notice an excessive change to the amount of discharge, color, consistency, or odor then TeenHealth FX highly recommends seeing a doctor, specialist such as an OBGYN, or speaking to a trusted adult that can relate to the situation.
Some other symptoms to look out for are:
- Itching
- Burning
- Pain
Any of those may be symptoms of an infection. Again, if you notice any of the changes mentioned above, please contact a healthcare professional.
