Dear Is a Heartbeat of 110 Normal?,

According to WebMD:

Your pulse is the rate at which your heart beats. Your pulse is usually called your heart rate, which is the number of times your heart beats each minute (bpm). Your pulse changes from minute to minute. It will be faster when you exercise, have a fever, or are under stress. It will be slower when you are resting.

According to WebMD children and teens ages 11-17 should have a resting heart rate of 60-100 bpm.

It is possible that your heart rate may have been faster during this time due to a fever associated with the flu. However, if your heart rate continues to be elevated or if you have any other physical symptoms that are of concern to you (particularly an irregular or rapid heartbeat, chest pain, dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness or shortness of breath), then FX recommends you check in with your primary care physician or adolescent medicine specialist about it. You could also stop in to see your school nurse and ask her about it for a start.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.

For more information on heart rate, you can speak to your doctor and read the WebMD article on pulse measurement.
