Small Black Mark on Foot
TeenHealthFX cannot conduct a proper diagnosis over the internet. Based on the symptoms you have described, FX believes you are experiencing a plantar wart. These warts are very common, especially in children. Symptoms of plantar warts include, yet are not limited to:
- Located on the bottom of the foot
- May cause irritation and/or minor pain
- Generally small, about the size of a pencil eraser
- May appear as a small black dot, often resembling a small black “seed”
- Do not stick up above the skin as hand warts often do
Although some warts can disappear with time, TeenHealthFX suggests scheduling an appointment with your doctor so he/she can properly treat the wart. If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. A Planned Parenthood health center is a good option if you have concerns about cost or confidentiality issues. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
