Dear Menstrual Blood is a Different Color,

TeenHealthFX cannot make any kind of definitive diagnosis over the internet, nor can you get an accurate diagnosis by searching the web. However, whatever is it is most likely nothing to be scared about. There are a variety of reasons that periods to become irregular in some way. Since you are so concerned about this, the best thing to do would be to meet with a medical health professional who can conduct a physical and examination, make an accurate diagnosis, and provide any necessary treatment. It would be helpful to first contact the doctor prescribing you your birth control, but you could also contact your primary care physician, an adolescent medicine specialist or a gynecologist.

If you don't have a doctor and live in northern New Jersey, you can call the Adolescent/Young Adult Center for Health at 973-971-5199 for an appointment with an adolescent medicine specialist or contact your local teen health center or Planned Parenthood. A Planned Parenthood health center is a good option if you have concerns about cost or confidentiality issues. You can also contact your insurance company for a list of in-network providers.
